Spanish experts met after the approval of the Integral Plan for Urban Waste
The Conference, organized by the Institute for Sustainable Resources (ISR) in support of the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM), is part of the new European culture on waste that is based on European society of recycling. In this context, the PNIR is conceived as a tool to identify the Spanish way of that European recycling society.
The publication in Spain, the new Comprehensive Plan for Municipal Waste (PNIR), together with the new Waste Framework Directive of November 19, 2008, make it necessary to review the current practices of waste management and to assess whether they able to achieve the objectives.
With both reference texts as a backdrop, the objective of the conference is to discuss key issues that must define, in future, the sustainability of waste management in our country, such as, the application of the hierarchy, prevention , the reuse and recycling, bio-waste recovery and energy efficiency and landfill where they go. The Conference will convene all interested parties to a thorough and rigorous discussion about the different elements that make up the new waste management practices.
With the participation of leading specialists and experts in urban waste management, the conference becomes the ideal setting and an excellent opportunity to learn the key aspects of sustainable waste management, reducing the impacts of the use of resources and improving the effectiveness of such use.
