Sociology as the scientific study of social phenomena (Part 3)
Until the seventeenth century social thought, was characterized by concern for formulating rules. The rationalism of these thinkers said that the scientific attitude to the phenomena, but the reality was outside the conscience must be free from the influence of idols and the preconceptions, which laid the groundwork for what would be the scientific method.
Postulates of Scientific Method: 1 - in the study of objective reality must be put aside, any preconceived ideas about the events being studied. 2 - The spirit will be conducted in the investigation and constructive methodical doubt, the only means of obtaining the truth of the facts and not distort them to suit a revealed truth.
Eighteenth century, are the works of Condorcet, Montesquieu and Diderot; discussed hypotheses about social progress. The formation of institutions, control, social change, the economic and social development of the scientific method; All this prepared the birth of sociology in the nineteenth century. This birth came with the industrial society, with the proletariat.
Ideology of the revolution of the eighteenth century sought to delineate the relationship of society to the plane of division of the individual and the state.
Postulates of the founders of sociology: 1-recognition that social phenomena exist outside of individual consciousness as objective reality, the processes of social organization, are not mere reflections of the ideas of men.
2 - Verification of the close and growing independence of the various parts of the social structure is a complex reality, in constant transformation, whose laws are to be found in social life and in the discretion of the demiurge ( name given by Plato to the creative intelligence, governor of the sky, in its original meaning refers to the artisans, laborers, architects).
3 - Checking objectively study the possibility of social life, distinguishing the scientific mode of approach it utopian activity, which in front of her social thought previously assumed.
4 - proclaimed recognition of the need to study the social process, before attempting to intervene in it. Intervention is performed as a contribution to the effort to preserve or to transform the existing social order.
The founders of sociology were: Comte, Spencer, Le Play, Lester, Karl Marx, Ward, Proudhan.
Comte named the new social science and divided his field:-Dynamic (study of change and progress) and-Static (synthesis of Condorcet and Montesquieu).
The law of three states saw the evolution of humanity, like a long road that ended at the age of industrialism. He saw society as a complex reality that all studies considered isolated, the openings elements of society, is by irrational nature of science and sterile.
